Noobs Are Coming places the player in control of a powerful boss figure facing off against continuous groups of enemies. Instead of progressing through levels as a hero, the player becomes the center of a defensive setup, preparing to repel constant pressure from incoming waves. Each round introduces more enemies, and the pace increases as the map fills with hazards, effects, and obstacles. The objective is to last as long as possible using combinations of tools, traps, and support units.
The gameplay allows full customization of loadouts. Players select their main character from a list of available bosses and then choose which weapons, minions, or traps to equip. The physics-based system means placement and timing are essential, and actions can affect how future waves behave. Some attacks focus on crowd control, others on area damage or utility.
While the game can be played solo, it also supports local cooperative play. Up to four players can team up, with each controlling their own boss on the same screen. Sharing the space means communication and timing are important, especially when using traps or placing minions. The cooperative setup allows more complex tactics, as players can balance offense and defense together.
Each match is self-contained and ends once all waves are defeated or the boss is overwhelmed. Between matches, players can unlock new bosses, improve certain abilities, and discover alternate tactics. Progression happens gradually through experimentation rather than traditional level advancement. There is no main campaign or storyline; instead, replay value comes from refining builds and testing new ideas.
Noobs Are Coming takes a common gameplay loop—survive waves—and flips the roles by making the player the powerful figure being challenged. The tension comes from watching the environment shift while adapting tactics on the fly. It avoids scripted events in favor of emergent combinations. The more players understand the system, the more effective they become at holding back wave after wave.
