In Late Laundry, a seemingly routine chore of doing laundry late at night turns into a peculiar and mildly unsettling experience. The game begins with you, the player, discovering that your home’s water supply is disrupted due to a burst pipe, forcing you to seek out the nearest 24-hour laundromat. Located in a less-traveled part of town, the laundromat at first seems just a bit too quiet and deserted. As you start your laundry, the game subtly introduces elements that hint at a not-so-ordinary night ahead. Lights flicker, machines start and stop inexplicably, and the echo of distant, odd noises keeps you wary.
Despite assurances of “definitely no enemies,” the game cleverly uses its setting and sound design to build a playful yet suspenseful atmosphere, making every shadow and sound a source of both humor and mild trepidation. Designed to be a brief experience of about 5-10 minutes, Late Laundry balances its horror elements with comedy, offering over-the-top cutscenes and exaggerated monster sightings that add a quirky touch to the gameplay. With features like “cutting indie edge graphics” and a “small open world that is useless,” the game doesn’t take itself too seriously, providing players with an entertaining diversion from typical horror games. The ability to take screenshots with a simple button press allows players to capture and share their most memorable or hilarious moments, further enhancing the light-hearted feel of this unique nocturnal adventure.
