Hello Neighbor Alpha 1

Hello Neighbor Alpha 1 is an early development version of Hello Neighbor that introduced the main stealth and exploration mechanics later used in the full game. In this version, the player investigates a strange house owned by a suspicious neighbor while trying to avoid being caught. The alpha build became popular because of its sandbox-style gameplay, unpredictable AI behavior, and open-ended puzzle design. Compared to later versions, Alpha 1 has a smaller map and simpler objectives, but it focuses heavily on experimentation and player freedom.

Entering the Neighbor’s House

The main goal in Hello Neighbor Alpha 1 is to enter the Neighbor’s house and reach the basement area. The player begins outside the house and must search for ways to unlock doors, disable traps, and find useful objects. Keys, boxes, chairs, and other items can be collected or moved to solve environmental puzzles. Many rooms are blocked at the beginning, so progression depends on discovering hidden paths and unlocking new sections of the building.

The game does not explain its story directly through dialogue or cutscenes. Instead, players uncover information through exploration and visual details inside the house. The central mystery involves the Neighbor hiding something important in the basement. The player’s objective is to investigate the secret while avoiding detection.

AI Behavior and Puzzle Mechanics

One of the most important systems in Hello Neighbor Alpha 1 is the Neighbor’s artificial intelligence. The enemy reacts to player behavior and patrols different areas of the house. If the player repeatedly enters through the same window or door, the Neighbor may place traps or block those routes later.

The gameplay includes several mechanics:

  • Stealth-based exploration
  • Environmental puzzles and locked doors
  • Interactive objects and physics systems
  • AI enemy patrol behavior
  • Basement progression objectives
  • Open sandbox-style level design

Because the game allows many approaches to progression, players can experiment with different strategies. Some puzzles can be solved in multiple ways depending on how the player uses available objects.

Learning Through Exploration

To play Hello Neighbor Alpha 1, the player moves around the neighborhood, enters the house, and searches for clues connected to the basement. Avoiding the Neighbor is important because getting caught forces the player back outside the house. Players often distract the enemy by throwing objects or using alternate entrances to continue exploring.
