A locked warehouse contains a mountain of hay, and somewhere inside it are the needles you have been ordered to find. Find the Needle is an incremental simulation game that combines searching, resource management, and factory automation. You play as a former farmer who cannot remember how he arrived at this strange location. The doors are locked, and nobody explains what will happen when the task is completed. Your objective is to process enormous amounts of hay, uncover hidden needles, and gradually construct an automated production system.
At the beginning, you have only basic tools and must remove hay manually. Every handful makes the pile smaller, but finding a needle requires examining a considerable amount of material. You can use a metal detector to help locate hidden objects and decide where to concentrate your efforts. Collected hay can be sold for money, providing the resources needed to purchase better equipment. As your tools improve, removing large sections of the pile becomes faster.
Find the Needle gradually introduces machines that can process materials without constant manual assistance. You can arrange equipment, connect production systems, and improve efficiency through technological research.
The main gameplay activities include:
As your operation grows, you can construct robotic arms, drones, and other machines that automatically move and process materials. The technology tree contains more than 300 upgrades, allowing you to increase production speed and unlock additional equipment. Building an efficient factory requires planning how different machines work together.
Find the Needle does not use traditional combat levels or character experience points. Progression depends on the size of the haystack, the machinery you unlock, and the needles you recover. Completing one collection objective leads to increasingly demanding tasks. Meanwhile, the locked warehouse and the protagonist’s missing memories provide an underlying mystery. The main challenge is transforming a slow manual search into a productive automated operation while discovering what lies hidden inside the hay.
