Tungtung’s Nightmare

Tungtung’s Nightmare is a short horror game based on an internet meme, where a character fails to wake up for sahur, the pre-dawn meal during Ramadan. The game begins with a quiet room and a phone notification. The player ignores the reminder and goes back to sleep. What follows is a strange sequence of events inside a dark, enclosed space. The setting is minimal, with tiled floors, cold lighting, and narrow hallways. The peaceful moment turns into something unfamiliar as the player begins to explore the space and realize they are not alone.

Gameplay and Objective

The main objective is to collect six food items scattered around the area while avoiding a fast-moving creature. The gameplay relies on movement, hiding, and avoiding direct contact. The player must navigate through simple but confusing corridors, while the figure known as Tungtung appears suddenly and gives chase. There are no weapons or tools, only the ability to escape. The counter on the table tracks progress, but each new item increases the chance of being found. The challenge depends on how well the player can keep moving and remember where they’ve been.

Tone and Design

The game uses low-resolution graphics and basic models to build its tone. The creature’s design, with its oversized face and fixed expression, adds to the strange feeling of the world. There is little sound except footsteps, ambient noise, and the occasional alert that the creature is nearby. The minimal presentation keeps the focus on survival and decision-making. Although the concept is based on humor, the gameplay creates a sense of pressure as the player races to complete the task before getting caught. Tungtung’s Nightmare blends cultural reference with horror mechanics in a simple but effective structure.
