The Hidden Layer is a psychological horror game that follows Alex, a student who unexpectedly finds himself responsible for taking care of his grandfather, Eugene. Moving into his grandfather’s isolated house on the outskirts of the city, Alex initially tries to adjust to his new routine. However, strange events begin to disturb his nights, as vivid nightmares and unexplained sounds make him question whether something unnatural is hidden within the house.
The game focuses on first-person exploration, where players must investigate the house and uncover clues about what is happening. As Alex searches through old rooms and locked storage spaces, he starts to find evidence that his grandfather may have been involved in something beyond normal comprehension. The deeper he digs, the more reality begins to distort, blurring the line between dreams and waking life.
The Hidden Layer features simple but immersive mechanics, allowing players to interact with objects, read documents, and move carefully through darkened spaces. The game builds tension with sound design and environmental storytelling, rather than relying on direct confrontations. With a runtime of about 20 minutes, the experience is designed to be compact but impactful, leaving players questioning what is real and what has been hidden beneath the surface.
