Schedule I places the player in the role of a low-level drug dealer arriving in the fictional west-coast city of Hyland Point. With no resources or support, the player must begin with nothing and work to build a drug empire. The city is designed as an open environment where every action has risk and consequence. From quiet residential areas to industrial backstreets, each location offers opportunity or danger. The goal is to expand influence, earn money, and survive the threats that come from both law enforcement and rival groups operating in the same space.
The game features a detailed system for drug production, where each type of product requires its own ingredients and setup. Players can discover new recipes that improve quality or offer unique effects. Distribution is managed through direct sales, hired dealers, or delivery runs. The player can walk, skate, or drive through the city to reach customers and secure deals. As the business grows, new properties can be purchased to expand production. Employees can be hired to automate certain parts of the operation, allowing for a wider reach and faster scaling of the enterprise.
With success comes attention. As the empire grows, the pressure increases from both the police and rival cartels. Encounters can lead to violence, requiring the player to defend themselves using fists, weapons, or firearms. Strategic decisions become more important as territory, supply chains, and staff all need to be maintained. Co-op multiplayer allows players to coordinate with others, managing a larger organization together. The gameplay combines business planning with open-world navigation and combat, pushing players to balance growth with survival in a high-risk environment.
