BUTTON PRISON

Button Prison is a confined horror experience centered around a single room packed with buttons, each capable of altering the environment in unpredictable ways. The player awakens with no context, surrounded by mannequins and furniture that offer no comfort—just visual noise. With no weapons, tools, or dialogue, the only way to interact with the world is by pressing buttons. Some open paths forward, others summon unsettling events, and a few exist purely to test the player’s reaction. The game encourages experimentation but punishes overconfidence, turning curiosity into a liability.

Cognitive Challenge and Sanity Mechanics

The key mechanic is memory. Players are asked to press specific buttons in the correct sequence, and remembering their location is essential. There is no hint system or reset—only consequences. Pressing the wrong button too many times leads to a visible decrease in sanity, which alters sound, visuals, and perception in real-time. Some buttons drop useful objects, while others shift the room’s layout or trigger effects meant to disorient. The pressure builds gradually as the consequences of failure become more apparent, making each choice feel increasingly risky.

Design Simplicity and Runtime Scope

The visual presentation is sparse, allowing every change in the room to carry more weight. Lighting is dim, movement is limited, and the only consistent element is the growing number of outcomes tied to player input. With a playtime of 40 to 90 minutes, Button Prison is structured to deliver a complete narrative loop in a single session. The design supports both individual play and streaming, requiring no special permissions. Options for graphical tweaks and mouse control are available, but the focus remains on the core loop: press, observe, remember, repeat—until escape or collapse.
